Marianne DysonAward-winning Author & former Flight Controller
The Wonders of Space
Will humans ever live on other worlds or in space itself?
A former NASA flight controller with a degree in physics, I share my passion for space with adults and children through books, articles, stories, and speeches promoting the eventual settlement of space.
My memoir, A Passion for Space let's you experience what it was like to be one of the first women in NASA's Mission Control. Shuttle Mission Control, showcases 20 flight controller stories and 150 images from the early Shuttle era. My science fiction collection, Fly Me to the Moon, includes stories of how we might have survived a Space Shuttle disaster, how the rescued memories of an Alzheimer's patient may save a future Moon mission, and what a terminally-ill cancer patient may discover on Europa.
Up in Space introduces kids to the International Space Station; To the Moon and Back (coauthored with Buzz Aldrin) explains how Apollo went to the Moon; Welcome to the Moon describes what we know and how we plan to return to the Moon; Space Station Science explains how the station falls and never lands; and Welcome to Mars (coauthored with Buzz Aldrin & that won the Best STEM Book award) says where and how we might build the first settlement on Mars.
